Women have been gathering in circles throughout history.
Women's circles are gatherings of women, for women. They create a space where women come together with the intention of sharing their stories and their wisdom, to connect with and empower each other, and to celebrate the feminine.
They are supportive environments where women are encouraged to show up as their authentic selves, to be seen, heard, and understood.
They are spaces for self-reflection and rest, free of judgement, where women can reconnect with themselves and others.
Circles are often focused on a theme, such as self-compassion, or self-care. There may be ceremonies and rituals, which are simply ways of infusing meaning into our actions. The basic format of a circle involves a ceremony to open the circle, several activities, sharing our thoughts and reflections, and a ceremony to close the circle.
Activities could include:
There will always be a focal point at the centre of the circle – candles, flowers, items relevant to the theme, oracle cards. The focal point is intended to be a beautiful place to rest your eyes.
We will sit in a circle around the focal point, either on cushions on the floor or on chairs.
In circle, we are all equals. The role of the facilitator is to organise the space and the activities, and keep everything running to time. There's no hierarchy here.
During sharing activities, we pass around a talking-piece. You are invited to contribute your reflections, being mindful of time. Sharing is not compulsory; you can decline the invitation!
When a woman shares, we don't offer advice unless we have her permission. In circle, we are all Wise Women and we can access our own wisdom. Circles are not the same as group therapy.

If you find yourself craving deep and authentic connection with other women, in a nurturing space fuelled by compassion, then circles are for you. Our circles focus on personal growth and building a nurturing community.
Wisdom Rising circles are inclusive, so that as many women as possible can benefit from being seen, understood, and known. Circles are offered in a secular manner, so you are free to interpret your circle experience through the lens of your own beliefs and world view.
The activities offered in circle are grounded in positive psychology, and aim to be 'woo-woo free.' Oracle cards are used as a way of gaining intuitive insight about a situation. They're a little like the inkblot tests used by psychologists, and are not used for telling fortunes. The stories we weave around the images can give us important messages from our unconscious minds.
Our women’s circles are open to all women and female-identifying folks. The recommended age for women’s circle participation is 16, though mature younger teens could be accommodated. We learn from women of all generations!

We speak with intention, from the heart. Consider what we say, and why.
We listen with attention. Every woman deserves to be heard and understood.
We act with compassion, protecting the wellbeing of the group.
I'm Nikki. I started Wisdom Rising as a way of bringing women together to experience being part of a supportive community focused on self growth. I've been a teacher for many years and have a background in psychology, and I wanted to use these skills in new ways to benefit others.
Wisdom Rising is not for profit. I offer women's circles on a donation basis to help cover the cost of hiring the space.
Come along to one of our circles!
